First Drama of 21 February by Prof. Munir Chudhary

We all know the name of Prof. Monir Chuduary who is still in mind for his sacrificing himself during 1971 liberation period. But we don't know the person who had written the first Drama of 21 February (Ekush) and this is Prof. Monir Chudhuary who had written the first drama of 21 February. In 1953 ,17th January he had written the Drama named "Kobor" (Grave). That drama had taken place on 21 February at 10 PM inside the Jail with the light of hariken instead of light. He was born Manik gonj, Dhaka. His Father was the educationalist, dramatist and he is from Noakhali. His name is Abdul Halim Chowdhury. Like his father he was also the brilliant student and stood first class first in both parts of the Masters degree. In 1949 he married with Lily Chowdhury. In 1950 he became Professor of English at Johnathan College. More over he was the inventor of bangla type writer keyboard which is now known as Munir key board and has been using on computer since long. In 1962 for Drama he was awarded Bangal Academy Prize. In 1965 for his book, Mir Manosh, He received Daud prize and Sitara-e-Imtiaz title in 1966. Munir Chowdhury was the famous as a foremost intellectual of Bangladesh.This was very much unfortunate that In December on 14th 1971, at the eve of victory, he was caught  by Al-Badar Bahini in the dark of Islamic fundamentalists of Jamat-e-Islamic and right-hands of Pakistani military and he lost his life on that day along with all other Buddigibi or intellectuals of the country.
